A Story about Kylie and Dora

Once Kylie together with her 6-years old Guide Dog Dora entered a bus when she was attacked by a lady claming that the dog didn't have a muzzle on. Another lady came into the quarrel and tried to calm the violent passenger: "You see that she is blind!" The passenger answered: "The dog is blind but the girl is not!"

In a Cabin Together with a Driver

Kylie tells joyously about funny cases which happened to Dora and her on the streets of Tartu. For example, once, on a hot summer day when the student city was patrolled by old Ikarus buses Dora took Kylie through a driver's door. "Since it was hot a driver's door was opened. Dora saw that it was comfortable for me to enter there since the tube for which one holds was on the right (and a dog's lead is on the left hand) and took me to a driver's place. While a driver tried to explain me politely that we took the wrong place, Dora took its time to lie quietly under the chair standing near the driver's place and when finally after a small mess we started to get out of the driver's cabin the dog left together with his chair" - revises Kylie.

A Bus Stop

Once Kylie together with Dora and another lady (who was not blind) went to a bus stop and heard that her companion was laughing. "When we entered a bus she said to me that on the bus stop Dora saw that our usual place was occupied by a young man. The dog was staring at him demandingly but without any result. Finally Dora just moved the young man with her nose."

According to AFP, a Guide Dog saved life to a blind lady and three of her children. It awoke them in the night to inform them that the house was on fire.

A Labrador called Gina started to bark when fire started in the house of a half blind Jacky Saunders in Melbourne during on Sunday night.

"Gina barked and I understood at once that something happened. I woke up since I thought that someone tried to enter the house", - said Jacky Sounders in her interview to a Melbourne radio. "But when I wanted to turn on the light it turned out that it didn't work and the smell said to me that the house was on fire", - she added. Then Jacky woke up her 13 years old daughter, her 17 years old son and their friend who spent the night at their house, and all four successfully left the burning house.

A Guide Dog Saved Its Handler Trudging Him from the 70th Floor of the burning World Trade Centre

Eduardo Rivera worked as a computer operator on the 70th floor of the northern tower of the World Trade Centre and on the unlucky morning of September 11 he as usual came to work together with his devoted Guide Dog, a Labrador called Dorado. After terrorists attacked the sky-scraper and the fire started, people were running around in panic trying to get out of the building, blind Eduardo had much less chances for salvation in comparison with the others. He almost lost any hope to get out of a rocking and burning hell alive but he thought that it would be unfair if his dog died together with him in the fire. So Eduardo ordered Dorado to leave him and to run downstairs alone but his devoted dog did not think of leaving its owner alone in pain. The dog trudged through fire and obstacles to him, took his clothes by teeth and got him downstairs leaving all obstacles behind them.

The dog and its blind handler had to come over thousands of stairs going through smoke, fire, obstacles and passing thousand of terrified Centre's employees to get out of the sky-scraper which was about to falling.

They left the sky-scraper safe and sound. Until now Eduardo can not believe his luck. He thinks that he owes his salvation to his devoted pet, which was ready to die together with him but not to leave him, according to Daily Record.

A Guide Dog for a blind Doberman

A Doberman called Emma is the only animal, which has its own Guide Dog. Emma lives in Canada, Ottawa, with its owner Ellen Daud. The dog lost its eye-sight at the age of 11 month due to an eye infection. It turned out to be impossible to restore the eye-sight and Emma remained blind. Her owner decided to help her pet and bought for her a specially trained Guide Dog called Emmy. Emmy bears a bell on her neck, which helps Emma to find the right place. According to Ellen Daud, no one knows that one of the dogs is blind; people just think that the dogs are friends and go together anywhere. With the help of its guide Emma does not walk into walls, corners, furniture, people. It also may walk normally on streets without any risk to walk into any obstacle.

Bad idea to visit your girl-friend with a Guide Dog

One blind married man who had a Guide Dog, had an affair. Since he could not visit his lover on his own, he went to her place with his Guide Dog. The man was sure that since the dog could not speak he was safe. His wife was alarmed by frequent visits of her husband to some "training courses" and she found out an original way of taking her husband to "clear waters". Once, when the dog was at home and her husband left somewhere together with his friend, she put a collar on the dog's neck and said to him something like "Let's go to our training courses". Then she simply followed an agitated dog. Without any mistake this hard-working dog took her to the house of her husband's lover. We do not know what followed next but it is for sure that the witty lady found a good punishment for the guilty husband.

A Tomatoes Lover

This story took place when we had deficit of products and other stuff in Russia. During the period of deficit bloom there existed certain rules in retail trade which said that one buyer should purchase only a limited quantity of goods at once, e.g. three bars of soap, 2 kilos of meet, etc.

A blind man with his Guide Dog came to a shop where there was a queue in a grocery department and people were waiting to buy tomatoes (not in their season time); the queue was huge and nervous, everyone was agitated whether he or she would get enough tomatoes. Of course, people let the blind man to buy tomatoes in front of the queue. The man asked for two kilos of tomatoes.

"It is not allowed, we sell only 1 kilo to one person", a saleslady said angrily in her usual way.
"But I have a Guide Dog; you should sell one kilo to me and one kilo to my dog"

The saleslady waived her hand tiredly and said "Do not make a fool of me!" and started to weight 1 "due" kilo of tomatoes.
"Well, will you not give tomatoes to such a nice dog?" - the blind man continued to insist.

The queue, angry at the delay, started to be annoyed.
"See, what he invented - tomatoes to a dog! Dogs do not eat tomatoes!"
"And if it does?"
"If it does I will give you the amount of tomatoes you want" - the saleslady enters the discussion and gives a tomato to the blind man: "Come on, give it to the dog".

That was exactly the thing he needed since he knew perfectly well that his dog would never deny any food. That was the case: the dog greedily ate the tomato in front of the queue's eyes and it looked up with hope hoping to get more. Of course, they got their second kilo of tomatoes without any objections.
